Procter & Gamble (P&G) reported fiscal year 2022 net sales of $80.2 billion, an increase of 5% versus the prior year. Excluding the impacts of foreign exchange, acquisitions and divestitures, organic sales increased 7%. The growth was broad-based driven by a 2% increase in organic volume, a 4% increase due to higher pricing and a 1% increase from positive mix. The company reported fiscal year 2022 fourth quarter net sales of $19.5 billion, an increase of 3% versus the prior year. Feminine Care organic sales increased low teens with growth in all regions. The growth was driven primarily by increased net pricing and positive product mix, partially offset by lower volumes due to reduced operations in Russia. Family Care organic sales increased mid-single digits due to increased net pricing and volume growth from innovation and increased promotional activity.

Ontex’s revenue of Core Markets was €396 million ($403 million), up 10% like for like, driven by 5.1% volume/mix growth and 5.3% overall higher prices. With a 2.9% increase compared to the previous quarter, this marks five consecutive quarters of sequential growth. Revenue was up double digit in Europe, while in North America the evolution was more subdued due to a higher comparable in 2021. Forex fluctuations added 3.6%, with the significant year-on-year appreciation of the U.S. dollar and Russian ruble, increasing revenue 14% overall. Prices were up 5.3% on average, versus 1.7% in the first quarter. By June prices were up further and as more pricing has already been secured, these are expected to continue to increase in the coming months. Baby pants growth accelerated compared to the first quarter, to strong double-digit year on year, benefitting from a new product range and share gains from its customers. Ontex outperformed the retail brand market, which was positive overall. GP Cellulose is investing about $80 million to add fluff capacity at its GP Cellulose Alabama River mill near Monroeville, AL. The project is being implemented in phases and when complete in late 2023, will increase the mill's ability to produce fluff pulp. The Alabama River mill operates two lines, one currently producing only paper pulp bales. This investment upgrades production by adding the ability for this line to also produce fluff pulp rolls. The mill's second line was upgraded to produce both paper pulp bales and fluff pulp rolls in 2011. Major aspects of the project are complete, including investments in the headbox and forming table. The final phase is underway now and includes infrastructure as well as winding and wrapping components. Plans call for the newly upgraded line to have the ability to produce fluff pulp in late 2023. Fluff pulp is used in a variety of hygienic disposable products, including baby diapers, feminine hygiene, adult incontinence and airlaid nonwovens. In the second quarter of 2022, Essity’s net sales increased 30.9% to SEK 37.9 billion ($3.7 billion). Sales growth, including organic sales growth and acquisitions, amounted to 20.6%. Organic sales growth, which excludes exchange rate effects, acquisitions and divestments, amounted to 17.8%, of which volume accounted for 3.7% and price/mix for 14.1%. Organic sales growth in mature markets amounted to 19.2% and in emerging markets to 16%. Emerging markets accounted for 38% of net sales. Exchange rate effects increased net sales by 10.4%. Acquisitions increased net sales by 2.8%. Divestments reduced net sales by 0.1%. Sinaatec Spa will add two Reifenhäuser Reicofil nonwovens lines to a new nonwovens operation in Algiers, Algeria. The company was established in 2017 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Madar Holding Group and this is its first investment in nonwovens lines. Reicofil has supplied the company with a 3.2 meter-wide single-beam meltblown line and an 3.2 meter-wide composite bico line, which will target the medical and hygiene sectors. The meltblown line is scheduled to be commissioned as early as September, while the start up of the composite line is planned for fall 2023. Sinaatec's local sites and infrastructure provide space for another plant, so further expansion is possible. On June 27, Arauco announced that on June 22 it signed a $3 billion investment partnership agreement with the government of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul for the construction of a new pulp mill, the construction of the new pulp mill will begin in 2025. The new mill is located 50 km from the city of Inocencia and will have a capacity of 2.5 million tons of hardwood pulp when completed. From a logistical point of view, the new mill in Inocencia is located near a large area of high quality forest and facilitates the export of pulp to other regions.
